Lost on the Road, Found in the View
Sun Quest — 1 Road at a Time
Some journeys are remembered for the places we plan to visit. Others stay with us because of the places we never expected to find.
My journey began in Surigao City, with Miya, my Yamaha Sniper 150, as my companion. Riding solo gives me the freedom to move at my own pace, follow the road ahead, and experience each place in my own way.
The journey took me through Leyte and Tacloban before reaching Sorsogon, bringing me closer to Albay and the sight I had come to experience: Mayon Volcano.

Traveling through unfamiliar places is not always easy. Roads can be rough, and sometimes the route ahead is not as clear as it first appears. There are moments when you lose your sense of direction and have to figure out where to go next.
That happened to me on this journey.
I got lost on the road and eventually ended up in a dry river. It was not where I had intended to go, but behind it was a beautiful view of Mayon Volcano.
For a moment, getting lost became something else entirely.
There was the volcano, standing in the distance, and the unexpected quiet of a place I had not planned to reach. I had been trying to find my way, yet somehow, I had arrived at a view worth remembering.
It reminded me that not every meaningful moment on the road comes from following the right direction. Sometimes, the unexpected parts of a journey become the ones we carry with us long after the ride is over.
That is part of what riding means to me. Beyond the roads and destinations, there is a feeling of peace and freedom that comes from being out there with Miya, moving through unfamiliar places and discovering what lies beyond the next turn.
I do not need every road to be easy. I only need the courage to keep moving, the patience to find my way, and the willingness to appreciate the places I discover along the way.
My journey through this part of the Philippines became another reminder of why I ride. Not everything goes according to plan, but that does not mean the journey has lost its meaning.
There are still roads ahead, places I have yet to see, and experiences waiting somewhere beyond the horizon.
It is a reminder that the road can be calm too, and that calm is worth remembering.
“Sometimes, getting lost is not the end of the way. It is where the road leads you to something beautiful you never planned to find.”
